Giovanni Battista Bossi (1864 – 1924) was an italian architect, who worked mainly in Milan between 1884 and 1913. He was mainly influenced by the architectural style Art Nouveau, which was most popular between 1890 and 1910. It is an architectural style inspired by natural forms, and particularly curved lines.
The Casa Guazzoni, which was designed by Giovanni Battista Bossi in 1904 is a palace which was built in this Art Nouveau style and is an important example of the “Milanese liberty”. The structure of the house is made up of brickwork masonry. In this building, the only elements of decoration are provided by the decorative clay and the concrete, adding a peculiar plastic effect. The decorative cements represent protomes with feminine heads intertwined together. From the stylistic-structural point of view, the building witnesses a sensible maturation of the architect.
