Aldo Andreani was an italian architect and sculptor. He combined the study of sculpture with a flourishing architectural career he based on Mantua’s Renaissance models.

The Rocchetta di Bosisio Parini was commissioned to Aldo Andreani by his friend Giovanni Grussoni, son of a milanese cotton industrialist. The main characteristic of the building is his “butterfly” base, inspired by former solutions imagined by Giuseppe Sommaruga. It is located in the middle of an enormous english-style parc. When we stare at it, we have the feeling to look at a medieval castle in which, with an hypothetical Renaissance reuse, a loggia with stone columns would have been added. For all that, with loggia is not finished, as the structure of the upper building site is still visible. We can see in the end a wooden superstructure with a great weight which completes the building. The great hall includes classical stuff, from which a capital, extended to the adjacent spaces with arched passages. Here, Andreani closely worked with Alessandro Mazzucotelli, then one of the most famous wrought-iron artist, who realized the iron items in the hall.
