B.B.P.R. is a studio of architects, planners and designers, composed of Gian Luigi Banfi, Ludovico Barbiato di Belgiojoso , Enrico Peressutti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers. Set up in Milan in 1932, it soon became a vivid part of the modern movement, of which the studio is one of the Italian leaders. The VI Milano Triennale, an international exihibition, took place in 1936 and the main topic was the decoration.
The studio B.B.P.R designed a room for a couple (about 8x8m) divided in three functional area: a bathroom, a physical training room and a bedroom. The whole point of this minimalist space lies in a central block which condenses the uses and articulates the space around.
Indeed, the room is structured around the small block in the center formed by a bed and a wardrobe. The wardrobe visually separates the bedroom from the bathroom and admits a toilet hidden by a rotating mirror. To the left of the bed, a tent suspended from the ceiling separates the exercise room from the bedroom. The exercise room includes a rowing machine, a bench and a rope ladder. At the foot of the bed there is a folding metal hammock.
