“Stanza di Soggiorno in una Villa” is an experiment of Franco Albini presented at the seventh edition of the Triennale di Milano in 1940 at the height of World War II, in an atmosphere of political, economic and social crisis. The Trienniale had a well-defined task in the life of fascistic Italy of then. The Triennale wanted to improve the work at home, film, art, airport, railway station, objects of everyday use… There were a lot designers, architects, painters and sculptors who participated in the exhibition of Milan, so Franco Albini.
Albini tried to show the different architectural trends, and combined those in his human scaled model of a living room for a villa. The environment is designed and built to give a complete solution for the setting of functional, technical and stylistics problems in a dwelling environment. It’s a new vision of how to use space but it also defined new kind of technics for details and furniture.
The height of the space is divided into two parts: the ground floor is designed for dining and conversation, the upstairs for reading and study. There is a wall all of glas on one side, this to have a intimately participation of the external environment: the garden.
